About Church Unlimited
History of Church Unlimited
During 1995, Roland and Patti Barnard of Umkomaas in KZN were trained as church planters with New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI). They felt the call of God to plant a new church in Nelspruit that would relate to NCMI. In October of 1995, the church, to be known as the New Covenant Church Nelspruit (NCCN) was launched. The first service took place in a garden flat. Eight adults attended ,amongst whom were Alan and Daleen Parfitt who are now leading the church. From the very beginning the church grew steadily and soon the flat became too small. This marked the beginning of an interesting journey through a number of venues in and around Nelspruit, until in 1999 we were given the privilege of being able to use the hall of the Bergvlam High School. It was also in 1999 that the leader of the 'Covenant Life Church' in Benoni moved to Dresden, East Germany, to take up the lead in the NCMI relating church there. Roland and Patti moved to the church in Benoni and Alan and Daleen Parfitt were asked to take over the leading of the church in Nelspruit. We moved into our new building complex on 5 June 2005. The Impact Centre, Youth and Sunday School facility was opened in 2007. Today NCCN is a dynamic, growing body of believers, impacting the community and the nations.Meet The Team
One of the convictions we hold, is that of team leadership. We currently have a team of 6 elders and a number of deacons as well as new leaders in training. The elders and deacons, who are married couples work as husband and wife teams in fulfilling their call as leaders. We believe that the Bible's teaching on leadership is that each local church should be governed by an Eldership Team. This team is the highest human authority in the local church. Our conviction is that the Bible teaches that leaders should lead their people by example and not by controlling or dominating them. Leaders are there to train, equip and release others to reach their full potential in God while giving a clear sense of vision. We believe the Bible teaches that elders are to be ordained by a person with a recognised apostolic call on his life. Deacons likewise are leaders called by God to work with the elders in serving the church in all the varied needs and ministries of the body. The elders of the church appoint deacons.
What We Believe
- The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original writings are fully inspired by God, and we accept them as the final authority for faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16)
- God is one God eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
- The Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man. (Matthew 1:20-23)
- God created man in His own image: man sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of death, physical and spiritual; and all human beings inherit a sinful nature, which issues in actual transgression involving personal guilt. (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12)
- The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, a substitutionary sacrifice, according to the Scriptures, and all who believe and trust in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (1 Corinthians 15:3; Romans 10:9)
- Our Lord Jesus Christ was bodily resurrected from the grave, He ascended into heaven, and He presently lives as our High Priest and Advocate. (Acts 2:24; Ephesians 1:20; Hebrews 7:25-26)
- The Lord Jesus Christ will return personally. (Acts 1:11)
- The Holy Spirit is a personality, His is the work of regenerating, and His presence abides in the true believer. (John 6:63-65)
- All who repent of their sins and receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. (Mark 1:15; John 1:12)
- All Christians are called to a life of holiness, devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and service to Him. (1 Peter 1:13-16; Romans 12:1,2)
- Both the just and the unjust will experience resurrection, the redeemed to eternal blessedness and those who have rejected the offer of salvation to eternal banishment from God. (Revelation 20:11-15)
- The whole company of those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour, have been redeemed by Him and regenerated by the Holy Spirit and form the one true Church. The local church on earth should take its character from this concept. Therefore the new birth and personal confession of faith in Christ are essentials of church membership. (Hebrews 12:22-24; John 3:3; Acts 2:47)
- The Holy Spirit indwells all true believers and He has been sent to be the Comforter and Empowerer of the Christian Church, to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit according to the Scriptures. (John 14:16-17, 26; 16:8; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22; 1 Corinthians 12:4)
- One of the works of Jesus is to baptize true believers in the Holy Spirit and believers are to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. ( Mark 1:8; Ephesians 5:18)
- All believers are part of the priesthood of the Kingdom of God. (1 Peter 2:9)
- The Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances - Baptism and the Lord's Table - to be observed as acts of obedience and as a perpetual witness to the cardinal facts of the Christian faith; baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in burial and resurrection, and the Lord's Table involves partaking of the bread and the cup as symbols of the Saviour's broken body and shed blood, in remembrance of His sacrificial death till His return. (Matthew 28:19; Luke 22:19-20)
- The healing of the sick is still available in our day. (Mark 16:16 - 8; Matthew 8:6; 17; 1 Corinthians 12:9 and James 5:14 -15).
- God never removed the gifts of the Holy Spirit from the Church, and the Scriptural commands to "seek earnestly the best gifts", and to "forbid not to speak in tongues", are still applicable today. (1 Corinthians 12-14 ... Note 1 Corinthians 14:1; 39).
- The ascended Christ has given various ministries or ministers to the Church in order to bring all believers to the place of Christian maturity in understanding of truth, and the performance and function of the ministry. (Ephesians 4 :11; Romans 12:4 - 8 and 1 Corinthians 12:10 following).
- The miracles as recorded in the Bible were real miracles, and are possible in the present day. (John 14:12 , 1 Corinthians 12:10).
Vision and Values
Our Vision
Firstly, to see the church continue to grow and develop as a strong and healthy local church. This entails the training, nurturing, encouraging and releasing of all believers to grow to their full potential and maturity in God. It is also, in this context, to mature leaders to be skillful shepherds, ministering with integrity of heart.
(Acts 2: 42-47; 2 Corinthians 11:2)
Secondly, it is to facilitate the vision and command of Jesus to disciple the nations of the world. This includes reaching out into our own community in real and relevant ways and to reveal the love of God to our neighbors. It also includes being involved in Jesus’ commission beyond the borders of our own city and country. We see our church in this context as being a base church out of which many blessings will flow.
(Matthew 28: 18 -20; Acts 1: 8; Acts 11: 20 - 26)
Our Values (Our non - negotiables)

- Through His grace we live like a family of friends who serve God out of our relationship with Him and with each other (Acts 2:42-47)
- We worship God in every area of our lives (Rom 12:1)
- Prayer is a God-given privilege and is the responsibility of all believers (Col 4:2)
